North Carolina Marks First Farnborough Visit

Seeing the North Carolina state flag hoisted in an exhibit at a major international air show isn’t all that surprising considering that the area is home to more than 160 aerospace companies and has attracted hundreds of million of dollars worth of major contracts in the last two years. “North Carolina continues to be a leader in the aerospace industry more than 100 years after the Wright brothers made their historic first flight at Kitty Hawk,” said the state’s commerce secretary, Jim Fain. Major recent aerospace projects in the state include a $50 million investment by Spirit AeroSystems, construction of a $50 million plant by engine maker Turbomeca, and the establishment of a headquarters in North Carolina by Honda Aircraft.
