Chevron introduces new buyer rewards program

Chevron Global Aviation has launched a fuel buyer reward program called FlyBuys that offers free gas and merchandise gift cards to customers. Here at Booth No. 1200, Chevron and 30 affiliated FBOs are highlighting the FlyBuys program and signing up new members.

While at the Chevron booth, visitors can also meet famed airshow T-34 pilot Julie Clark, who is on hand today, and solo circumnavigator Barrington Irving, at the Chevron booth tomorrow. FlyBuys is Chevron’s first aviation reward program since the merger of Chevron and Texaco in 2001.

Pilots can open their own FlyBuys account, or flight departments can pool cumulative points using one account and hand out rewards as gift cards to anyone in the organization. That way a flight department could share the benefit with pilots, flight attendants, mechanics or anyone else in the department, said Bob Taylor, manager, branded programs, Chevron Global Aviation. Reward points are available at participating Chevron- and Texaco-branded FBOs in the U.S. Chevron doesn’t currently offer FlyBuys outside the U.S.

Points are accumulated at the rate of one point per gallon, although Chevron Alliance Program charge card users can earn additional points as well. Rewards are either Chevron or Texaco gas station gift cards or universal gift certificates available from GiftCertificates.com, which can be used at hundreds of retailers. FlyBuys isn’t affiliated with any fuel credit card systems. Instead, participants simply show their FlyBuys card to the FBO to have points logged in their account.

Anyone interested in FlyBuys can sign up online or at participating FBOs and begin accumulating points immediately. Users pay no fees to participate. Typical redemption levels are 2,500 points for a $25 universal SuperCertificate from GiftCertificates.com or 2,000 points for a $25 Chevron or Texaco gas station gift card.
