Twinjet prepares to open local base

UK-based aircraft management and charter operator Twinjet Aviation is assessing several possible locations for a new base here in the Arabian Gulf region. According to CEO Keith McMann, being established permanently in this part of the world would improve prospects for securing more management contracts in a market he still expects to achieve 15- to 20-percent growth despite serious economic problems in the wider world.

On November 1, Twinjet (Stand No. 200) appointed experienced charter broker Neil Turnbull to represent it and its sibling, The Charter Company (Stand No. 1034), in the Middle East. The company, which is headquartered at London’s Luton Airport, has been operating a Bombardier Challenger 604 in the region since February and expects to base more aircraft here in the future, but has no plans to get a local commercial air operator’s certificate (AOC) since its main focus is on private management contracts in this market. The company’s fleet–for which the average age is less than two years–also includes an Airbus Corporate Jetliner and an Embraer Legacy 600.

Twinjet has been in business for 26 years. Its British AOC allows it to operate worldwide. It is also approved to operate charter flights into the U.S. and is cleared for that country’s visa waiver program.
