Dassault Falcon expects to deliver 20 Falcon business aircraft a year to China over the next five years, and confirmed that it is to open Dassault Falcon Aircraft Services-China by the end of June in partnership with Shanghai Hawker Pacific.

“China is the business jet market for the next decade,” Boeing Business Jets president Steve Taylor said here yesterday at ABACE. He predicted “steady growth” for BBJ orders and deliveries in China, fueled mainly by aircraft charter operator customers that–unlike in other parts of the world–are the dominant players for new business jets in the Asian country.

Bombardier business jets

Bombardier has brought just over one third of the business aircraft on display here at the ABACE show. Appropriately enough, that’s just about the share of the market in China claimed by the Canadian airframer, according to Christophe Degoumois, Bombardier’s vice president of business aircraft sales for Russia, CIS, Asia Pacific, China and Australia.

Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Center

ABACE show host Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Center (SHPBASC) has been approved by China’s Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) to perform maintenance on Bombardier’s Global 5000 and ultra-long-range Global Express/XRS series of business jets. Shanghai Hawker Pacific is the first approved Part 145 facility in China.

Membership of the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) has risen from 45 to 58 over the past year, with the most recent company to sign up joining just before yesterday’s annual general meeting held on the eve of the ABACE show in Shanghai. The new member is AIN, publisher of ABACE Convention News.

Lufthansa Technik (LHT) will establish a completions center in Asia, “sooner rather than later,” the company told an ABACE show press conference yesterday. “In the medium term the Chinese market is very interesting,” said Walter Heerdt, the company’s senior marketing and sales vice president. “We have to be here, otherwise we will not get the best share we can out of this market.”

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has approved the Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre (SHPBASC) to add the Dassault Falcon 7X to its Part 145 Maintenance Organization approval. This is the first approval by the CAAC for the 7X in China, according to SHPBASC.
