
As flight crew members and frequent air travelers know better than most, seeing anything from above puts it in better perspective. AIN photographer David McIntosh got the opportunity to see and shoot the Dubai Air Show static display from a helicopter on Monday morning before most visitors arrived. Here's what he saw.

Some 40 military aircraft are on display at the 2011 edition of the Dubai Air Show, a clear indication of the marketing potentiol for defense products in the Middle East region. Here are a few of them showing their stuff or basking in the the desert sun.

For the first time at any Dubai Air Show, the daily flying display is being opened by the United Arab Emirates' own aeobatic team, Al Fursan (The Knights). The team flies seven black-and-gold Alenia Aermacchi MB339 NATs, a single-engine jet trainer and light-attack aircraft. The UAE celebrates its 40th anniversary on December 2.

Among the 120 aircraft on static display at the 2011 Dubai Air Show, are a selection of business jets, ranging from the small, twin-turbine Eclipse 500 to the Boeing Business Jet.
