Aspen Jetride, the charter operator that acquired the assets of Aspen Executive Air (AEXJet) after AEXJet filed for bankruptcy protection last year, has ceased operations and surrendered its operating certificate, according to an FAA spokesman for the Southwest region. Aspen Jetride, formerly known as Jetride, finalized the AEXJet acquisition in January and added “Aspen” to its name in April. The company was originally known as Pinnacle Air until it purchased Columbus, Ohio-based Jetride in 2006. Aspen Jetride’s demise leaves customers at Aspen Pitkin Airport with few choices in the immediate area. According to a spokesperson for Aspen FBO Atlantic Aviation, customers will have to contact operators located outside Aspen; St. Paul, Minn.-based JetChoice, a jet membership firm with an office at Pitkin Airport; or an Aspen-based charter broker such as evoJets. AIN attempted to contact Aspen Jetride for comment, but the company’s various phone numbers are all forwarded to a generic voice mailbox that is unable to accept new messages.
