Embraer bizjet sales continue upward climb

Embraer came to Farnborough with more sales for its fast-growing business aviation division, with its backlog having increased from $4.5 billion to $6 billion in the few weeks since the sector met in Geneva for the EBACE show.

Here at Farnborough, Embraer vice president of marketing, Europe, Middle East and Africa for executive jets, Colin Steven, revealed two of the most recent buyers–the UAE’s Al Habtoor Group, which has agreed to purchase a Lineage 1000, and K2 SmartJets of Greece, which signed an order for two Legacy 600s to add to the one it has operated since July 2007.

Having found its feet in the market with the Legacy, based on the ERJ-135 regional jet, Embraer has now introduced the Lineage 1000, Phenom 100 and 300, and then the Legacy 450 and 500. The Phenom 100 very light jet is due to start deliveries this year and will soon receive certification.

The company faces the challenge of delivering between 120 and 150 Phenoms next year.
