StandardAero Maryville Ready for PW600 Service

StandardAero last month concluded a shakedown run of the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW600 at the company’s new test cell facility in Maryville, Tenn. The company began work on the $6 million facility in June last year. It is the first test cell dedicated to PW600 repair and overhaul, but the company said it designed the facility to accommodate engines up to 30,000 pounds of thrust. The 10,000-sq-ft facility is located adjacent to the Rolls-Royce AE3007 test cell and includes 6,500 sq ft of engine preparation area and 4,000 sq ft of engine test staging and troubleshooting. In other news, StandardAero completed a $3 million redesign of its Los Angeles engine shop. The redesign improves the overall operations and performance of the TFE731, TPE331 and CFE738 shops by separating the facility into separate cells: a TPE331 cell, a TFE731 speed line cell, a heavy maintenance cell and a supply cell. The new layout decreases turnaround time by 20 percent, the company said.
