Who wouldn’t want to wake up just a stone’s throw from the heart of the Farnborough airshow this week? Some lucky show goers are doing exactly that with the opening this week of the new Aviator Hotel (below). The stylish, contemporary building is shaped like a propeller and the aviation theme continues with a tribute to the great Anglo-American aviator Samuel Cody, who made the first heavier-than-air flight in Britain here at Farnborough in 1908. The 170-room hotel has been built by airport owner TAG Aviation and is run by the Dakota group. It also features a brasserie restaurant, an Italian deli and the Sky Bar, as well as meeting rooms. When the airshow isn’t on, the Aviator will largely accommodate aircraft crews and their passengers who use what has become London’s premier business aviation airport.
