Savannah expands to accommodate green completions

Savannah Air Center (Booth No. 3997) has doubled its capacity since opening a new hangar last spring and has expanded its ability to accommodate additional large-cabin business aircraft.

The Savannah, Ga.-based maintenance, avionics and completion and refurbishment center’s new 101,500-sq-ft structure will accommodate up to 12 aircraft the size of the Bombardier Global Express and Gulfstream V.  It will be used primarily for green aircraft interior completion work.

“As an authorized completion center for Bombardier Global 5000 and Global Express XRS aircraft, we are actively developing our green completion business,” said Savannah Air president Jeff Zacharius. “This expansion allowed us to efficiently serve those new Bombardier aircraft customers while growing our interior refurbishment, avionics and maintenance business for other large-cabin aircraft owners.”

The opening of the new facility, he added, fits perfectly with arrival dates of Savannah Air’s first green Challenger 850s.

Meanwhile, the company has added new FAA approvals. The center recently received a limited STC from Transport Canada for a high-speed data system. The first was installed on a European-based Learjet 60 and allows a single channel of SwiftBroadband at speeds up to 432 kbps.

Savannah Air has also received installation approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency for a flight data recorder on a Gulfstream IV. The first was installed on a European-registered Gulfstream IV.
