When the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) first announced its Large Aircraft Security Program (LASP) in October 2008, it threatened to ground every general aviation aircraft with a maximum certified takeoff weight of more than 12,500 pounds unless the nearly 10,000 aircraft operators complied with the security edict.

For the first time ever, NBAA has two static displays of aircraft, one at Henderson Executive Airport and the other right next to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Getting the aircraft to the Convention Center required the move by roadways during the wee hours of Thursday night and Friday morning.

Boeing Business Jets president Steve Taylor yesterday revealed at NBAA 2011 that the well-publicized delays of the company’s commercial 787 and 747-8I twin-aisle aircraft programs would affect deliveries of these models to VIP completion centers.

NBAA has two static displays of aircraft, one at Henderson Executive Airport with 85 aircraft and the other right next to the Las Vegas Convention Center, with 14. At Henderson, all the major aircraft manufacturers are showing their latest and greatest, while several aircraft brokers have a good number of quality preowned aircraft for sale.

SuperJet International, manufacturer of the new Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional airliner, announced here at the NBAA show that Comlux The Aviation Group will be the launch customer for an executive variant of the aircraft. The agreement covers two Sukhoi Business Jets (SBJs) and options for two more.
