If past is prologue, expect an uptick in business aviation flight activity next March. That’s one of the conclusions drawn from an Argus Market Intelligence report released at the NBAA Convention. The report analyzes the last three years of the company’s TraqPak flight activity data, including its FlightView aircraft movement and JetNet aircraft ownership information.

Elliott Aviation (Booth No. 1706) announced at NBAA’12 yesterday that it has received an STC for installation of Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics’s new MD302 Standby Attitude Module (SAM). The compact 1.6-pound unit provides attitude, altitude, airspeed and slip information. Elliott plans to offer the compact $10,600 unit to buyers of its Garmin G1000 upgrade for King Air turboprops. The installation should go smoothly as Elliott also announced at the show the completion of its 75th King Air G1000 installation.
NetJets aircraft charter and management arm Executive Jet Management launched a new program that provides flight departments and aircraft owners with a “comprehensive suite” of services that offer cost savings on fuel and crew training and VIP access to FBOs.
World Fuel Services officially launched the new Ascent fuel brand for FBOs this week at the NBAA Convention. The company brought one of its refueler trucks, complete with new global fuel brand logo, to Orlando to show attendees what they can expect to see over the next year as the company rolls out its global branding. Ascent will also offer equipment leasing, credit card processing, contract fuel, FBO marketing assistance and training and product liability insurance protection.
Phillips 66 Aviation announced here on Tuesday a new corporate credit card program featuring Avcard, a co-branded card with Phillips 66.
The new Phillips 66 Aviation Wings Card will provide acceptance at more than 7,200 locations globally, along with double WingPoints at participating FBOs.
The new corporate card will serve pilots and flight departments flying into the nation’s largest network of branded FBOs. Some 870 FBOs are part of the Phillips 66 Aviation network.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University took a leap forward toward its commitment to become an entrepreneurial go-to resource for the aerospace industry this week when the university announced an agreement with Montreal-based Advanced Aerospace Solutions (AdvAero), a U.S. joint venture with Marinvent Corporation.

As it celebrates its 30th year of business, aftermarket aviation parts supplier CRS Jet Spares has been has been named as Meggitt subsidiary Securaplane’s sales and service center in Brazil. Fort Lauderdale-based CRS will establish a sales, logistics and service facility there that will support the aftermarket needs of Gulfstream, Hawker, Dassault Falcon and Bombardier Challenger and Learjet aircraft.
Cobham is now Cobham Satcom (Booth No. 1773), an amalgam of Cobham and the Danish satcom company Thrane & Thrane, which it acquired earlier this year, the company said in an announcement at NBAA’12. “As the demand for airborne, land-mobile and maritime satellite communications continues to increase we are working hard to make it easier for customers to buy from us a wider range of satcom equipment and integrated solutions,” said Richard Tyson, president of the Cobham Aerospace and Security division that includes the new company.
Airbus has awarded Lufthansa Technik (Booth No. 2529) a completion contract for three additional ACJ318 aircraft and bestowed its “Best VIP cabin outfitter of the year 2012” prize on the company.
Airbus and Lufthansa Technik have partnered on the ACJ318 program since 2006 with the latter already completing 17 of the aircraft at its facilities in Hamburg and Tulsa. Three more will arrive next year and two additional in 2014 and 2015, respectively. In 2009 all ACJ318 completion was transferred to Lufthansa’s Bizjet International subsidiary in Tulsa.
