Air Methods will be working with Mayo Clinic Medical Transport of Rochester, Minn., to provide interior completion services for the clinic’s new Eurocopter EC 145.
The helicopter will be outfitted with an Air Methods air medical interior capable of transporting one or two critical-care patients and up to four medical attendants. The medical equipment will include a custom patient litter system and an external seven-litter liquid oxygen package.
Additional modifications include a dual-pilot IFR NVG-compatible cockpit with a wide variety of avionics and special-mission systems, including dual Garmin comm/nav/GPS units and multifunction display, tactical communications systems and satellite communications. Safety features will include TCAS and TAWS.
“The EC 145 is establishing itself as a very qualified EMS platform, and the Air Methods EMS package complements the cabin size and aircraft performance characteristics to provide a highly effective air medical transport helicopter,” said Air Methods productions division v-p Arthur Torwirt.
Air Methods, a major player in emergency aeromedical transportation and medical services, is based in Englewood, Colo.
