On August 31 Gulfstream and Israel Aircraft Industries, manufacturer of the G100 and G200, celebrated the rollout of the 100th G200 at a ceremony in Tel Aviv. Since 2001, when Gulfstream purchased the G200 product line and type certificate from the now defunct Galaxy Aerospace, the company has delivered 67 outfitted aircraft.
In another milestone for the product line, the European Aviation Safety Agency awarded type certification to the G200, qualifying the airplane for registration in all European Union member countries. Earlier this year, Gulfstream began offering Safe Flight Instruments’ autothrottle system as a retrofit on in-service G200s and as optional equipment on new models (see AIN, September, page 10).
Gulfstream G100s, G200s and the forthcoming G150, all evolved from the IAI Astra SPX and Galaxy, respectively, are manufactured in Israel and then flown to Gulfstream completion facilities in Dallas.
