FAA STCs Elliott's flat-panel Citation upgrade
Elliott Aviation has received FAA STCs for installing Universal flat-panel integrated displays (FPIDs), Universal TAWS and Collins AHRS in Citation 550/560s. The Universal FPID STC replaces the standard Citation electromechanical or EFIS ADI and HSI flight instruments with Universal EFI-550 five-inch LCD FPIDs. Two-, three- or five-tube installation options are available.
Operators can interface a Universal MFD-640 to operate with the existing Honeywell Primus radar systems most common in the Citation. Universal TAWS, Vision I synthetic vision and a UNS-1L Super FMS have been included in this certification as system options to optimize the selection of the Universal cockpit for retrofit. A solid-state dual Collins AHRS system was also certified as a replacement option for the aging vertical and directional gyros.
The certification aircraft also included the integrated display of a Collins TCAS-4000 ACAS, RVSM and a new Collins TWR-850 turbulence-detection radar. “The Universal FPIDs are a perfect upgrade opportunity for Citation operators due to their potential and the interface capabilities with the avionics equipment normally found in the Citation fleet,” said Dan Frahm, director of business development for Elliott Aviation. “Elliott Aviation has designed its STC to provide a Universal Avionics solution at several different prices to meet operators’ budgets for the changing FAA airspace requirements.” Elliott Aviation has facilities in Moline, Ill., Des Moines, Iowa, Minneapolis and Omaha, Neb., and is a member of the Pinnacle Air Network.
