Sagem Défense Sécurité is displaying a dynamic demonstration of its integrated cockpit display system (ICDS) on the Safran Group stand (Hall 4 B12). Designed to replace electro-mechanic instruments and piloting and navigation functions, the ICDS is composed of a primary flight display, engine monitoring system, navigation display and multi-function display, or a combination of all four.

ICDS displays information in alphanumeric text and graphic formats to provide enhanced situational awareness, thus increasing flight safety and efficiency, while reducing pilot workload, the company said. Offered in 6-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch versions, they can also display video or images from sensors, or mission systems. In the U.S., 14 Eurocopter AS 350 Squirrel helicopters of the Los Angeles Police Department have been fitted with ICDS as part of a modernization program awarded to Sagem Avionics Inc, the U.S. subsidiary.

They also equip the Squirrels of the San Diego Police and, in July 2007, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department selected the ICDS glass cockpit displays for its entire fleet. This year, ICDS was chosen for the Eurocopter EC 120 that will train the future pilots of the French Army Aviation.

Sagem Défense Sécurité and General Dynamic Aviation Services have established a partnership to modernize cockpits of Gulfstream, Hawker, Challenger and Falcon corporate aircraft with ICDS. In cooperation with EADS Socata, the French Navy and Air Force have chosen ICDS to upgrade their Embraer Xingu trainers.
