Norwegian Air Shuttle has converted its “commitment” for 100 Airbus A320neos to a firm order, Airbus announced on Friday. The new aircraft, scheduled to enter service in 2015, will feature a single-class cabin layout seating some 180 passengers. A new customer for Airbus, Norwegian now operates a fleet of Boeing 737-800s and -300s. It plans to retire all its 737-300s this year.

In January, Norwegian Air Shuttle signed separate contracts with Airbus and Boeing covering a total of 222 new airplanes, including 100 Boeing Max 8s, 22 Boeing 737-800NGs and the 100 A320Neos now on firm order. It still hasn’t announced which engines will power its Neos; Airbus offers the airplane with either the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G or CFM Leap-X1A.

Separately, Airbus inked a firm contract earlier this week with Los Angeles-based Air Lease Corp for 36 A320neos. The order calls for delivery of at least 20 of the Neo family’s largest model—the A321neo—and accompanies options for another 14 airplanes.
