The Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (Canso), Airports Council International (ACI) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced in Rome on June 25 that they will soon coordinate efforts aimed at driving aviation system improvements. Canso director general (interim) Samantha Sharif said in a news release, “Airlines, airports and air navigation service providers all share the same priorities - safety, cost-effectiveness and sustainability - so it makes sense that we work together in these areas.” Sharif, along with ACI under director general Angela Gittens and IATA under director of government and industry affairs Jeff Poole, has committed to strengthening advocacy through consistent industry messaging, increasing the number of airport runway safety teams and searching for new ways to deliver tangible outcomes to all stakeholders rapidly.
