Heli-Expo 2014 brings big news for Idaho-based Aviation Specialties Unlimited (Booth No. 802). On the heels of its announcement that the company has completed its 800th night vision cockpit modification, including exterior high intensity LED navigation lights and aft cabin lighting just before the show (an AW139 for Construction Helicopters), it also announced that it has a new v-p and chief technology officer, Dr. Joseph Estrera.
Estrera comes to Aviation Specialties Unlimited from L-3 Warrior Systems, where he spent 20 years developing laser, image intensifier and infrared technologies and night-vision products. He was system architect in several major U.S. military soldier development programs, including the digital night vision system, digital enhanced night-vision goggles and fused multispectral weapon sight.
“My areas of emphasis include next-generation night vision lighting solutions and development of aerial system payload technologies,” said Estrera. “ASU has a great reputation in the industry and I am honored to join the team.”
