Volo Aviation was awarded the contract late last week to manage the FBO at Tampa (Fla.) Executive Airport, which is 10 miles northeast of downtown Tampa. Investment group Skyport Holdings recently purchased the FBO, formerly Leading Edge Aviation Services, and retained Volo Aviation as business manager for its new acquisition.
“We are excited to add Tampa Executive to the Volo Aviation network,” said Volo Aviation senior vice president for FBO operations Brian Ciambra. “We see strong local demand for services in Tampa. The airport was losing business to surrounding airports in the area because of uncompetitive pricing. Volo Aviation will quickly introduce aggressive pricing at Tampa Executive that we hope will reengage our tenant base and attract traffic and business back to the airport.”
Volo Aviation now controls more than 30 acres at Tampa Executive, including 40,000 sq ft of hangars, 75 T-hangars, 32 shade ports and 110 tie-downs. It is also managing the 10,000-sq-ft terminal, which was constructed in 2004 and offers a “spacious” lobby and a large conference room, in addition to offices for rent.
