Gulfstream has earned a supplement type certificate from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration for its new Elite interior package for the G450 and G550 long-range business jets. Based on the airframer’s design for its ultra-long-range G650, the new option features among its upgrades fully loaded electronic seats with telescoping headrests, flexible wings, electronic lumbar controls with optional heat and massage, and one-touch conversion into full-flat beds. It also includes the Gulfstream Cabin Management System (GCMS).

“With the Elite interior, passengers can have total control over their environment thanks to touch-screen-based wireless handhelds that are part of the Gulfstream Cabin Management System,” said Bob Geary, the manufacturer’s director of final phase research and development.

The GCMS, which is also available on the OEM’s new G280, will also allow passengers to operate various cabin systems using apps on mobile devices such as iPads and smart phones.
