Messier-Dowty believes that the success of its fully packaged landing gear for Bombardier’s Global Express and Continental and Raytheon’s Hawker Horizon has allowed the system-supplier concept to take root in business aviation. The group has high hopes of being named the landing gear system supplier for both Dassault’s new Falcon FNX program and Raytheon’s Hawker 450.

Aircraft Braking Systems Corp. (ABSC) was recently awarded contracts for main wheels, carbon brakes and nosewheels for the Dasault Falcon 900EX and Gulfstream IV. The Akron, Ohio-based ABSC already produces braking systems for Falcon 10, 20, and 50 aircraft, and will introduce a brake-by-wire (BBW) digital braking system for the Falcon 900 similar to other ABSC BBW systems installed on six aircraft models.

Middle East-based carrier Qatar Airways plans to show its new executive shuttle-configured Airbus A319 Corporate Jetliner at the Dubai 2001 airshow in the United Arab Emirates next month. The airplane is expected to take part in the flying show on opening day, November 4, and remain on the static display line for the remainder of the four-day event.

Ibis Aerospace, a joint venture company formed by Aero Vodochody of the Czech Republic and Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. of Taiwan, flew the prototype of its Ae270 single-engine turboprop in front of a public audience for the first time at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France, in June. A second prototype is expected to fly by the end of this month.

Boeing announced today it has closed on the deal to acquire Vought Aircraft Industries’ interest in Global Aeronautica, the South Carolina fuselage subassembly maker for the Boeing 787. Under the terms of the transaction, Global Aeronautica becomes a 50-50 joint venture between The Boeing Company and Alenia North America, a subsidiary of Italy’s Alenia Aeronautica.
