Pentagon 2000 software aids ordering, inventory

Pentagon 2000 Software, Inc. has introduced Pentagon 2000SQL/Mobil enterprise software for use by parts distributors, repair stations and others.

A 15-year veteran of producing information services software for aviation and aerospace, Pentagon 2000 said its latest product is the first designed for Microsoft Windows-powered Pocket PC handheld computers. The software was developed “in response to a growing demand from enterprise customers for wireless access to secure corporate databases in real-time while away from their desks.”

Working as an additional point of entry and access vehicle for the company’s Pentagon 2000SQL enterprise resources planning (ERP) system, the Mobil software allows a wide range of mobile access scenarios including order entry, inventory management, aircraft maintenance checks, work orders and shop-floor management, direct procurement and materials management, and customer management information, with both read access and write data entry from a handheld Pocket PC.

Pentagon 2000 cited examples of use for its Mobil product, including a sales representative on a customer call using a wireless-enabled Pocket PC to “access real-time order status and inventory levels and open issues, as well as resolve problems and input orders, all while on site with the customer.” Mechanics and inspectors recording discrepancies and corrective actions on a Pocket PC in real-time may also benefit from this technology, the company said.

The Pentagon 2000SQL main ERP software runs in the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 environment and includes integrated modules covering e-commerce, inventory management, work orders, aircraft heavy maintenance (A/B/C/D checks), aircraft modification, flight operations, maintenance tracking, employee and crew training, document imaging and multimedia as well as manufacturing and engine overhaul and tear down operations. Other options available for the Pentagon 2000SQL system include biometric security requiring fingerprint verification for system access, and complete audio and video imaging capability.
