Airbus Military Boosts Support Services
Airbus Military has launched operations at a services logistics hub at its Seville production facility. The 27,000-sq-ft hub is staffed by 100 people who manage approximately 22,500 different part numbers. It provides spares for the company’s A330MRTT, A400M, C295 and CN-235 series of airlifters and tankers, and their ground equipment. It is certified to EASA Part 145 standards.
The company said that the new facility will improve the reliability and timeliness of parts dispatch. For aircraft-on-ground (AOG) service, Airbus Military promises a maximum dispatch time of four hours, and says that 95 percent of customer requests for parts will be fulfilled within five days. It expects the new hub to save €500,000 annually in operating costs. “We will be more competitive thanks to the cost reduction, and customer satisfaction will improve,” predicted Philippe Gallande, head of Airbus Military Services.
The new hub is a key component of the company’s Full In-Service Support (FISS) offering. Eleven customers have adopted this integrated service model, which covers approximately 90 aircraft, according to Airbus Military. The latest additions are the French Air Force (for its newly delivered A400M) and Airtanker (which is providing A330MRTTs to the UK Royal Air Force).
