Houston-based ExpressJet Airlines yesterday disclosed that it had established an executive jet charter division. Officials said ExpressJet Corporate Aviation is “designed to provide distinctive travel solutions for corporations, aircraft brokers, hospitality companies, sports teams, schools and others.” The new division is scheduled to begin operations in December with an ERJ 145XR and is initially expected to grow to a fleet of 10 aircraft by next May, “with the potential to add five more aircraft.” They will be flown under ExpressJet Airlines’ Part 121 certificate. According to officials, the ERJ 145XR will be configured with 50 seats, each with XM radio. ExpressJet Corporate Aviation will obtain its aircraft from its parent airline. Until now Delta Air Lines has been the only major U.S. air carrier to have an executive jet charter division.
