After nine months of intense bargaining, NetJets’ unionized pilots (represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters) and management reached a tentative agreement (TA) on Saturday. The move comes four years after the pilots’ contract became amendable in October 2001. A union spokeswoman told AIN that the five-year tentative contract was “by no means perfect,” though she did say that the scope provisions were “awesome.” Pilot pay, which was one of the biggest sticking points in the negotiations, in the new TA has been increased substantially and would make NetJets pilots the highest-paid fractional pilots. First-year and fifth-year first officer pay under the new TA are $39,000 and $52,000, respectively, compared with $27,108 and $32,160 under the current contract; for captains, it’s $52,000 and $90,000, versus $37,560 and $60,984. The pilots will vote on the TA next month. NetJets has repeatedly refused to comment on pilot negotiations.
