Comments Due on Air-taxi Disclosure Proposal
Today is the deadline for comments on a DOT advance notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) seeking input on a 2006 NTSB recommendation calling for air taxis to be required to disclose to customers operational control information, including the name of any brokers involved. The recommendation stems from the Safety Board’s investigation into the crash of a Challenger at Montrose, Colo., on Nov. 28, 2004. At press time, 14 comments had been submitted, including from the National Air Transportation Association. The association supports the recommendation that customers be told the name of the company with operational control of the flight but opposes the three other recommendations: that the customer be told the name of the aircraft owner, the name of the broker involved in arranging the flight and the names of “doing business as” entities contained in the company’s OpSpecs.
