Show-cause Order Released on EJM Commuter Start-up
The DOT issued a “show cause” notice on Executive Jet Management’s plans to launch a business jet commuter operation. EJM, a NetJets affiliate that provides aircraft charter and management, submitted a DOT application in March to launch scheduled commuter service using business jets to connect Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City. Based on information provided in the application, scheduled flights could start as early as this summer. The Cincinnati-based company anticipates there will be approximately 30 round-trip flights a week between Westchester County Airport (HPN) in White Plains, N.Y., and Chicago Midway Airport, and approximately 10 round-trip flights a week between HPN and an airport in the metropolitan Los Angeles area. The EJM fleet of about 80 aircraft ranges from CitationJets to Gulfstream IVs. The DOT notice asks persons to “show cause why [the DOT] should not issue an order finding that EJM is fit, willing and able to provide scheduled service as a commuter air carrier.” Objections must be filed by August 29.
