The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has certified the Citation Mustang, not only for registration in Europe but for flying steep approaches as well. According to Cessna, the VLJ is the first new-generation entry-level business jet to achieve certification in Europe. Additionally, the steep-approach certification allows the Mustang to land at airports with instrument approach angles greater than 4.5 degrees, such as London City airport in the UK, which has an approach angle of 5.5 degrees and requires special authorization for aircraft and pilots who land there. "The Citation Mustang has met or exceeded every performance objective established," Cessna CEO Jack Pelton said. "We're looking forward to starting deliveries of the Mustang in Europe later this summer." To date, Cessna has booked orders for more than 300 Mustangs, including 100 in Europe. The company plans to deliver 40 this year, and 150 in 2009.
