Boeing Business Jets announced at EBACE today the retirement of current president Steven Hill and the promotion of chief pilot Steve Taylor to succeed him. Hill had a 35-year career with Boeing, most of it in sales. Taylor told AIN one of his first tasks is to find a new chief pilot for BBJ, probably one from within the Boeing production pilot ranks. The company also unveiled a 747-8 VIP cabin module from Greenpoint Technologies that provides 807 sq ft of floor space above the main deck between doors 3 and 5. Although not approved for use during takeoff and landing, the extra space may contain up to 16 berths or various sitting options. The additional second floor gives an equipped 747-8 VIP a total of 5,620 sq ft of cabin floor space. Finally, BBJ announced the “BBJ Convertible,” which includes a cargo-side door and can convert from passengers to cargo in about eight hours.
