The Garmin G1000 glass cockpit system on Tuesday received FAA STC approval for Cessna CitationJets. According to Garmin, the approval for the RVSM-compliant system covers S/Ns 0001 through 0359. The G1000 suite weighs 100 pounds less than the original avionics and allows pilots to fly Waas approaches with Garmin’s GFC 700 autopilot, as well as have electronic charts, datalink weather and an optional synthetic vision system. The G1000 system for the CitationJet includes two 10.4-inch primary flight displays and a 12-inch multi-function display. A pedestal-mounted, alphanumeric keypad enables the pilot to control the avionics’ functionality from a center console. Other features in the installation include Class-B terrain awareness and warning system, dual integrated solid-state attitude and heading reference systems, dual digital audio control panels, target N1 computer, SafeTaxi and a GDL 69A with integrated satellite weather datalink and digital-quality audio via XM WX Satellite Weather. Optional features include Garmin’s GSR 56 Iridium transceiver, GTS 850 and 820 TCAS I and TAS traffic systems and Class-A Taws. All installations will be performed by Cessna-owned Citation service centers.
