More than 800 people participated in the NBAA regional forum held at DB Aviation at Waukegan Airport north of Chicago yesterday. On hand were 23 business jets, including a new Embraer Lineage 1000, and 64 exhibitors offering flight department software to aircraft management services and maintenance. Presentations covered managing insurance and adding airborne communications and connectivity to the aircraft cabin. Mike Nichols, NBAA vice president of operations, education and economics, opened with a review of the No Plane, No Gain program: "The message has been heard on Capitol Hill and by the media. Policy makers are changing their view of business aviation and they’re beginning to recognize it is central to the success of corporate America and to our nation." NBAA is actively engaging Congress and the media with the message that business aviation fulfills four critical functions: supporting 1.2 million directly related jobs; providing air service to countless small communities without airline service; increasing a company’s productivity; and supporting humanitarian-relief missions.
