HBC Disowns Aircraft Mods, Nextant Takes News in Stride

Nextant Aerospace brushed off a communiqué sent by Hawker Beechcraft (HBC) on Friday warning it will not provide any support for aircraft modified without the Wichita manufacturer’s “involvement or approval.” The memo specifically mentions the Nextant 400XT, a remanufactured “zero time” Beechjet with new Williams FJ44-3AP engines and Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics. Nextant vice president of sales and marketing Jay Heublein told AIN that his company was expecting this communiqué, adding that its publication suggests that Hawker Beechcraft “recognizes the 400XT as a real competitive threat.” According to Heublein, Nextant will provide full support for the 400XT–including financing, pilot training at CAE, warranty coverage, maintenance, parts, tip-to-tail extended warranty program and engineering assistance. Even before delivery of the first 400XT, Nextant has seven U.S. maintenance facilities at sister companies Constant Aviation and Flight Options ready to support the twinjet. Warranty service centers are now being lined up in Europe, Africa, Asia and other world regions, Heublein said, with a European facility expected to be announced by the end of next month. Meanwhile, FAA certification of the $4 million 400XT is pending processing of paperwork at the agency, Nextant said. The company also kicked off a two-month-long U.S. demo tour of the 400XT yesterday in Scottsdale, Ariz.
