Sheltair opened its new general aviation FBO terminal building, hangar complex and expanded parking apron, at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City on Wednesday. The FBO is the only general aviation facility at the greenfield airport, which opened in May last year. Sheltair has been operating from a temporary building at the airport for the past year but is now housed in a 5,000-sq-ft terminal building complete with a passenger lobby, conference room, pilots’ lounge and flight-planning area. The property also includes 1,680 sq ft of office space adjoining a 9,100-sq-ft hangar, in addition to more than five acres of ramp space for parking. “We are thrilled to have opened our new facility to better serve our based, as well as transient, customers in the Florida panhandle,” Sheltair vice president of aviation Danny Walsh said at the grand opening. The new FBO terminal was designed and built to LEED certification standards and is currently awaiting approval with the U.S. Green Building Council.
