EBAA To Hold Bizav Regional Forum in Turkey
The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has announced plans for a regional forum to be held in Istanbul on October 10 and 11. In recent years, the country has seen growing business aviation activity, partly spurred by the fact that with 4 percent annual growth in gross domestic product its economy is doing significantly better than that of many other European countries.
However, one key topic on the forum’s agenda will be the complications raised by continued delays over granting Turkey full membership of the European Union. The forum will also focus on aircraft financing, leasing and tax issues. A report on the work of EBAA’s new associate member advisory council will also be released at the event.
In other news at EBAA, the association said that the latest Eurocontrol data on business aviation shows continued decline, with the total year-to-date movements through the end of July down 4.4 percent, to 618,544, from the same period last year. In July there were 63,408 movements, 2.8 percent below the July 2012 level. The weakest month so far this year was March, when traffic fell 7.7 percent, to 49,066 movements.
