According to letters sent to the Texas Workforce Commission, Gulfstream Aerospace is laying off 219 Dallas-based employees. This comes on the heels of similar Warn letters sent earlier this month to the 70 employees of the General Dynamics Aviation Services (GDAS) facility in Minneapolis notifying them of its closure at the end of June. According to the most recent notification, 211 employees at Gulfstream’s aircraft completion and refurbishment facility and eight at GDAS Dallas are affected. The layoffs are slated to occur over a two-week period starting on July 13. “This is a continuation of the reduction in force announcement we made last March in which we announced we would be reducing our workforce by 1,200 employees systemwide, including 600 contract and 600 full-time employees,” a company spokesman told AIN. “The Dallas area is particularly hard hit because of the collapse of the midsize cabin market largely due to the lack of available credit, the reduced hours being flown by operators and also because we have two facilities–GDAS Dallas and a Gulfstream Aerospace service center.”
