As Lufthansa Technik’s new training year gets under way, 307 young people have joined the company on the first step of their career. The number is up from last year’s freshman group of 285. Officially, 174 trainees started in Hamburg, up from 141 last year, and 96 in Frankfurt (including the Alzey site), up from 107 the previous year. An additional 30 are slated to report for training in Munich and seven more in Arnstadt. The company’s aggressive training plan has produced 927 trainees since the program started last year. As a condition of employment, trainees were given the opportunity to choose from among 16 different career paths and practice-oriented degree programs with the company. This year, for the first time, Lufthansa Technik Logistik is offering places for business people specializing in transport and logistics services. With 33 places in six practice-oriented degree programs, Lufthansa Technik is expanding its collaboration with higher educational establishments. Another career path involving a master’s of science in mechatronics is planned to be introduced next year.
