Avionics display provider Barco has entered into a partnership with Zhukovsky-based aerospace company Monitor Soft to jointly provide cockpit mission systems on the Russian market. “The Russian market has always been an important focus for us and over the past ten years we have achieved a dominant market share on civil aircraft,” said a Barco spokesman. “Regardless of the economic climate there is a great potential for these versatile mission display applications.” He said the system introduces several innovations to the market, including a compact footprint and low power consumption appropriate to either an aircraft or helicopter cockpit environment. Barco’s MDU-268 mission display unit is an avionics-grade six- by 8-inch display derived from the company’s cockpit head-down display family. It includes a sunlight-readable active matrix liquid crystal display with an 80-degree viewing angle in all directions in either portrait or landscape mode. It is also compatible with forward-looking infrared, daylight video cameras, moving maps, computers and radar.
