StandardAero To Reopen Springfield TFE731 Shop
The engine shop at StandardAero’s Springfield, Ill. service center will reopen in the third quarter. The shop closed in 2005. The 225,000-sq-ft facility has had a long history of servicing TFE731-powered aircraft. “Initially the shop will be capable of providing major periodic inspections for TFE731s. The capabilities of the shop will be reassessed periodically, with a possibility of adding other engine types and services based on customers’ needs,” said Mike Menard, v-p and general manager of the facility. The company will also maintain a mobile service team in Little Rock to serve the needs of its customers in the region. Scott Taylor, senior v-p of business aviation, told AIN the company decided to reopen the facility because “We’ve analyzed in detail what matters to the corporate operator and why. We also assessed our capabilities, resources and whether we’re maximizing the deployment of resources we have toward what matters to our customers.” Customers singled out “one-stop-shopping” and the resulting ease of doing business as a high priority, Taylor said.
