Asia-Pacific Support To Increase for Bombardiers
Bombardier Aerospace has earmarked $30 million to support its growing fleet of business and commercial aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region. According to James Hoblyn, president of customer services and specialized and amphibious aircraft, the investment is the first phase of an aggressive plan to build a comprehensive service and support network for the Asia-Pacific region. The network will be centered in China and supported by satellite facilities throughout the region. Bombardier intends to implement three hub-and-spoke service and support zones worldwide. “We plan to establish a comprehensive network of Bombardier-owned and third-party facilities across Asia-Pacific providing complete solutions for parts, maintenance, training and technical support,” Hoblyn told AIN. According to Hoblyn, the company will open a parts depot in greater China by year-end. It will join existing depots located in Narita, Japan; Beijing, China; Sydney, Australia; and Singapore. “We have long recognized the importance of developing a strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region and expect our fleet to grow significantly over the next five years. We’ll be unveiling further support network expansion plans in the coming months,” Hoblyn said. Bombardier currently has 33 customer service and support personnel and 16 Bombardier-owned and -authorized facilities in the region, including a recently inaugurated regional support office in Mumbai.
