Aviation Turbines International of O’Fallon, Mo., is offering a mobile response team to serve its JT15D customers. The company has a dedicated vehicle equipped with the tooling required by Pratt & Whitney Canada to perform hot-section inspections, low-pressure compressor replacements, vibration surveys, engine replacements and routine maintenance. The mobile response truck covers approximately a 1,200-mile radius from the facility and can accommodate two loaner engines along with the tool boxes and associated tools for performing a hot-section inspection or removal and installation of an engine if needed, v-p Tom Stanton told AIN. The trailer also has a dedicated office and computer for required paperwork. “We always send two technicians, both of whom have powerplant mechanic certificates, but at least one will also have an airframe rating. It is our policy that our A&P mechanics go through FlightSafety and be trained to taxi and operate the aircraft along with being familiar with the aircraft systems for which the engine work is being performed,” Stanton said.
