Third-Party MRO Helps Keep Maintenance Cost Down
“We’re an FAA Part 145 third-party repair facility,” Marcellus Montalvo, president of Memphis-based InterSky Precision Instruments, told AIN. Montalvo said the 30-year-old company specializes in helping customers optimize their supply chain. “Aviation agency-certified independent suppliers provide expert repair services on high-mile or failed parts. These services not only significantly reduce maintenance costs but also minimize the need for operators to inventory replacement parts at multiple locations,” he said. “We look at a component and try to figure out a repair solution as an alternative to purchasing a new part. We do designated engineering representative repairs and can often repair a part for less than purchasing a new one.” Montalvo also said they can often turn a part around in two weeks compared to 90 to 180 days to get a new part from the OEM. The company specializes in components for the Dassault Falcon 10, 20, 50, 200 and 900, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard HU-25 fleet for mid-range surveillance. It also does work on the DC-10, MD-11, A300, A310, A319 and A320. “We’re currently developing Boeing 757 capability,” he said.
