British airline group bmi has signed two new agreements with Lufthansa Technik. Under the terms of the first agreement Lufthansa Technik will continue to supply base maintenance services for 41 aircraft of the complete bmi and bmibaby fleets, which include 25 Airbus A320s, two A330s and 14 Boeing 737s. The contract calls for more than 200 C checks to be performed over the next seven years. In addition, the parties have agreed on a dedicated single-line concept where the aircraft will be overhauled nose-to-tail in primary facilities within the Lufthansa Technik Group. The A320 fleet will be overhauled at Shannon Aerospace, the 737s at Lufthansa Technik Sofia and the A330s at Lufthansa Technik Malta. The second agreement, a line maintenance contract between the two parties, has the engineering organization of bmi, Lufthansa Technik and its subsidiary Lufthansa Technik Maintenance International teaming to provide service for Lufthansa German Airlines, bmi and external line maintenance customers at London Heathrow Airport. The capabilities range from line maintenance to A checks for single-aisle and widebody aircraft. The partnership will be promoted under the newly developed brand “bmi, partner of Lufthansa Technik.”
