Constant Aviation has opened a new landing-gear repair and overhaul facility at its Birmingham, Ala. location. The facility will begin servicing Beechjet 400A/XP landing gear and expand to include the Embraer Legacy 600 and Hawker 800A/XP in the coming months.

Stephen Maiden, Constant Aviation’s president, told AIN, “There are not many MRO facilities in the industry that can overhaul your landing gear while performing the maintenance inspection. Typically that work is outsourced to a third party. We have also invested in core units, making repair and exchanges available. We expect to continue the process of expanding our accessory capabilities to include brakes and starter generators. As we add capabilities and services, we are continuing our forward momentum to include all our niche aircraft: the Legacy, Citation X, Gulfstream, Challenger 601 and 300, Piaggio and Phenom 100/300.”

Constant Aviation has hired Robert Martin to manage the new product line. Previously, Martin was with Lockheed Martin, where he was the completions supervisor. Before that he was with Hawker Beechcraft Services, where he launched, built and managed the landing-gear shop.
