Operators immobilized by an AOG can now tap into experts anywhere in the world with the Onsight system by Librestream. The Canadian company’s specialized mobile video device communicates on a standard PC, and iPhone and iPad connections are in the works.

“Typically the expert, or a whole team of experts, would travel to the site to investigate and solve the problem, causing further delays and incurring high costs,” Kerry Thacher, Librestream’s CEO, told AIN. “With Onsight no one leaves their desk as [the system] connects experts to remote locations in real time with multiple layers of security to keep the content safe,” he said. Using Onsight, an expert can receive real-time video and audio that allows him to see exactly what the onsite technician sees. It also supports S-Video tools such as a borescope. The system may be used with Wi-Fi, a cellular phone or a satellite Internet connection. Onsight software supports up to 15 participants at a time. It also supports Cisco WebEx, which would allow unlimited participants.

The company sells and leases the equipment, which costs between $10,000 and $15,000 depending on options such as accessory kits and maintenance contracts.
