Pratt & Whitney also agreed to sponsor Republic Polytechnic students through scholarships or book prizes. The engine maker will begin by sponsoring Republic Polytechnic’s Gold Medal Award for the most outstanding graduate from the aerospace engineering program each year for the duration of the MOU. “The Gold Medal Award involves a medal and some prize money to be given to the most outstanding graduate from Republic Polytechnic’s Aerospace Engineering program,” said a spokeswoman for the school
Additionally, Pratt & Whitney will develop a six-year fast-track program at its Turbine Overhaul Services for recruited graduates from the Republic Polytechnic School of Engineering. The company will sponsor the recruits’ bachelor’s degrees. Upon successful completion of the program, recruits will be converted to full-time salaried employees. The program will provide Pratt & Whitney with a pool of qualified engineers and allow students to enter the workforce promptly as competent, skilled engineers.
