The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Sustainability Program presented West Star Aviation with the Colorado Governor’s Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) Silver Award. It is the third time West Star has received the Silver Award since it was first recognized as a Bronze Achiever in 2010.

The ELP is a statewide environmental recognition and reward program administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The program’s goal is to foster relationships, reward environmental performance and create a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable Colorado.

“Our initiatives at GJT have continued to grow in scope and in participation, so this is an exciting award for us,” said Dave Krogman, West Star general manager. “We know more and more customers are looking to companies to be more environmentally responsible and we are happy to answer that call.”

The MRO continued to expand its recycling program, which included metal, wood, rubber, batteries (both disposable and aircraft), paper and new and used oil. In addition, West Star continues to reduce power consumption with relighting projects, motion sensors and energy-saving compressors.
