StandardAero Singapore Named Authorized R-R 300 MRO
StandardAero has completed a license agreement with Rolls-Royce that designates the company’s Singapore facility an authorized maintenance repair and overhaul center (Amroc) for RR300 helicopter engines. The authorization follows an RR300 Amroc agreement signed in December with StandardAero’s facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
“The RR300 engine MRO market is in its infancy but growing as more aircraft are introduced to the marketplace. The most recent aviation regulatory body to issue airworthiness certification of the R66 helicopter was China’s CAAC in April this year. There are approximately 50 R66s in the Asia-Pacific region and another 75 in Russia. As more helicopters are introduced and flight hours accumulate, the demand for engine MRO services will grow,” Bryn Hyra, business development analyst for StandardAero’s helicopters business, told AIN.
According to Hyra, the Singapore facility is the first independently owned RR300 authorized MRO center in Asia. The company invested $3.65 million in the facility, which included upgrades to various processes, licensing, test cell modification and tooling expenditures for the RR300 MRO line.
