A Skywest pilot on administrative leave took his own life after stealing a company Bombardier CRJ200 at Saint George Municipal Airport (SGU), Utah, on July 17. He was wanted by police in connection with the death of his girlfriend in Colorado Springs

The pilot climbed a fence to gain access to the airport, entered the CRJ and started the engines. During taxi, the aircraft struck part of the terminal building and crashed through a fence into a parking lot. The pilot killed himself before airport security could gain access to the aircraft.
