PDCs Available to Turbine Crews via the Internet

Pilots of turbine-powered aircraft lacking digital datalink systems can bypass traditional ATC clearance delivery procedures and take advantage of the FAA’s pre-departure clearance (PDC) option. This option requires using a PDC system developed by FltPlan.com for Internet-accessible devices such as iPads and smartphones. PDCs are available to FltPlan.com users at 70 major airports around the U.S. approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. A FltPlan.com spokesperson told AIN that just over 200 users have signed up for PDC to date.
